Wonderful little radio. I've had it for about three years and have no regrets on this one. Added the Diamond aftermarket antenna and I highly recommend it. Able to hit the repeater 90 miles away on 5 watts!

Although I did not know him personally, I read his stuff. Great material, clearly understood and helpful. He will be missed in the amateur community of digital operators.

We had a power failure, I got a chance to listen to noise via the UPS and the Icom, the 15 over noise was gone! So now I know where it is at, about a 5 block area around my home. When power returned, the noise was gone for a day! It returned today however...

The Power Company was out again today... As always, the noise was there, and by the time they arrived it was gone... They got out in something like 20 minutes, so it is not EWEB's issue... They are being really good about trying to locate the noise!

I have not heard such a sound on the radio in over twenty years of RFI. It does, however, sound like the mechanical noise produced by high-intensity discharge lamps, streetlights, parking lot illumination, grow lights, et cetera. Regarding the comment of "electric fence"... I've been in a rural area for the past eleven years and am surrounded by them. They produce a faint "tick" in a receiver about once per second, similar to the faint sound of a battery operated quartz clock in a quiet room. I have been able to easily remove the noise produced by them with the "NB" built into most moderns receivers.
